ADORNED explores the choices people make when adorning their bodies and their living/work spaces. To glean insight into how adornment practices both reflect and inform identity, memory, culture, and values, author Jen Westmoreland Bouchard interviewed twenty creatives, intellectuals, makers, and visionaries in Los Angeles and the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. 

Khazana is hosting a concurrent exhibition “Jewels of Earth & Fire” at this year’s NCECA “Claytopia” in Minneapolis. We are showcasing 12 artists, representing multiple countries on various continents, to create a survey exhibition of some of the quality ceramic jewelry being made today. For as long, maybe longer as people have been making vessels with clay – they have been making ceramic beads, baubles and broaches. This exhibition will introduce several internationally acclaimed artists to the NCECA community.

Participants bring 3-5 items that are white or neutral colored to dye with natural indigo – this can include up to 2 yards of fabric, pillow cases, and anything you want to transform with indigo. This is also an opportunity to over-dye pieces that are stained with indigo so they are back in action and better than ever!
